Battle of the giants

Bunny has become completely dependent on online grocery shopping – why schlep heavy bags home when man can deliver?

I started out with Sainsbury’s, mainly due to a recommendation. They offer 1 hour delivery slots, which is fab, but unfortunately the availability is not that good – I often have to book delivery a week in advance! The drivers are very friendly and helpful…but will only carry my groceries to the front door. And the online system seems to be a bit random, often items have disappeared from my order!

Tesco: Bunny was tempted by £10 off voucher…was not too impressed with their 2 hour delivery slots, but the availability was good – I actually managed to book delivery for the next day, and they delivered on time…and they do bag-less delivery; the man even carried everything into my kitchen. And he remembered to thank me profoundly for giving him an alternative postcode – Bridges Wharf is not yet live in all sat nav systems, so I normally direct them to the heliport

Now, is Bunny shallow for preferring the company with the best looking drivers…? She will certainly not be testing Asda ;)

Bad cabs!

KuromiStupid black cabs…Bunny is all against illegal cabs, but life would be a lot easier for us all if licensed minicabs could pick up passengers too….as if there is ever a black cab around when you need one?

Bunny does however recommend everyone to save the cabwise number to their mobile phone….

Any reason will do?

Tough Kuromi

So, Bunny was thinking of leaving London earlier this year. Now very glad I didn’t, but just came across my pro and con list…and here is my list of things that I said I would NOT miss in the beginning of 2009 – and some comments…

10 things I will NOT miss

1. Crap housing, especially heating and plumbing

2. Horrendous decorations and furniture

- both sorted by moving into my great new flat :D

3. My landlords and landladies

- well, been better so far, but…

4. The M25 and London traffic

- luckily mostly using public transportation and walking these days…not without issues either, but…

5. The food in general

6. Chips with everything – including pasta

- so eating more at home…healthier and saves money

7. Dating English men

- well…

8. English high street fashion

9. English shoes

- have found some good stores for shoes and lingerie tho….

10. The weather

- well, can’t be helped, but at least I’ve got my balcony heater

Square mile…

Russel SquareBunny should really know better than walking around London without a map…got a bit lost today…good thing was that I got to walk through Russel Square, which was very pretty…(but worst bit is that I should already know this area well from our latest Circle Line Pub Crawl…oh well…)

Russel SquareRussel Square

Also great so see that the flowers are still in bloom…no proper autumn in London just yet…

British Museum

Later found myself outside the British Museum….hello Lion :D

Ridiculous!!!

New tube mapThe new tube map has lost the river Thames and the zones…is someone on drugs? Bunny will hold on to her old map at all costs!!!

Tubing it…

StockwellPassing Stockwell, weird to see that they are still commemorating that unfortunate shooting incident… Bunny is however not a great fan of Travel for London these days after a recent complaint about closed gates at Piccadilly Circus on St Patrick’s Day…the reply suggested that she has confused the station with Oxford Circus..as if! (I was definitely NOT that drunk ;) ) Just wish I had taken a photo as evidence…

Who’s afraid of the big bad brother…

The Circle Line…and I don’t mean the show? I hear lots English people complaining about the big brother society. I actually feel quite reassured by CCTV cameras, and I wish that the authorities knew where I lived. I am not up to anything illegal and haven’t been anywhere I shouldn’t be… (mostly)… I do however think that the Transport for London employees must have enjoyed our antics on the Circle Line Pub Crawl earlier this year ;)

Finding my way

StreetsignThere IS a lot positive to be said about the UK post code system; at least if you have got sat nav. However, what is wrong with displaying house numbers properly (or, on certain country roads, even HAVING house numbers). That is, if you can even find the street sign ;) Luckily, people are mostly quite friendly and helpful if you ask for directions… (the photo is actually of my favourite street in York)

Sat nag

Sat nag

I had the mixed pleasure of driving through central London without sat nav the other day. Tho I am known to argue out loud with my sat nav I really missed it on this journey. If I can choose I will never go back to the manual system of maps and directions again. Perhaps the next logical step is to get sat nav on my mobile too ;)
