Last man standing

One phenomenon I have never managed to get my head around is this tendency for English people to stand up drinking; in the pub, at a party… Personally I always try to spot some chairs or at least a table to put a drinks on – or in worst case just propping up the bar – but no, especially English guys like standing in the middle of the floor., holding their drinks..even if there are plenty of seats or tables available. And they are not even dancing. No wonder the girls often look grumpy, having to stand up all night, wearing their silly shoes. Can anyone explain this love of vertical drinking to me?

This is the only place it makes sense…
